    Ramadan: the Month of Forgiveness

    Ramadan: the Month of Forgiveness

Ramadan is a month of great virtue, Barakah and a month of forgiveness. It is essential we make the most of this blessed month and make it a month of Ibadah (worship), rectification and repentance.

Abu Hurayrah (RA) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: "When Ramadan enters, the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hellfire are closed and the devils are chained." (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

Narrated Abu Huraira

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever established prayers on the night of Qadr out of sincere faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven; and whoever fasts in the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith, and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven."

    "‏ مَنْ قَامَ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ، وَمَنْ صَامَ رَمَضَانَ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ ‏"‏‏

    Sahih Al-Bukhari 1901

Dua upon Sighting of Crescent Moon of Ramadan

Ramadan Mubarak to all from barakah jobs. This blessed month is soon upon us.

Abu Hurayrah (RA) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: "When Ramadan enters, the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hellfire are closed and the devils are chained." (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

Here are our few legislated supplications/duas to remember .

One should recite the following upon sighting of the new moon at the beginning of Ramadan or of each month as mentioned by Sheikh 'Abdurrazzāq al Badr

    Sighting the new moon:

    اللهُ أَكْبَر، اللّهُمَّ أَهِلَّهُ عَلَيْنا بِالأمْنِ وَالإيمان، والسَّلامَةِ والإسْلام، وَالتَّوْفيقِ لِما تُحِبُّ رَبَّنا وَتَرْضى، رَبُّنا وَرَبُّكَ الله

Allaahu 'Akbar, Allaahumma 'ahillahu 'alayna bil'amni wal'eemaani, wassalaamati wal-'Islaami, wattawfeeqi limaa tuhibbu Rabbanaa wa tardhaa, Rabbunaa wa Rabbukallaahu

Allah is the Most Great. O Allah, bring us the new moon with security and Faith, with peace and in Islam, and in harmony with what our Lord loves and what pleases Him. Our Lord and your Lord is Allah.

    At-Tirmithi 5/504, Ad-Darimi 1/336. See also Al-Albani, Sahih At-Tirmithi 3/157

One could also recite the following.

Bilal bin Yahya bin Talhah bin `Ubaidullah narrated :
from his father, from his grandfather Talhah bin `Ubaidullah that when the Prophet (ﷺ) would see a crescent moon, he would say:

“O Allah, bring it over us with blessing and faith, and security and Islam. My Lord and your Lord is Allah (Allāhumma ahlilhu `alainā bil-yumni wal-Īmān, was-salāmati wal-Islām, rabbī wa rabbuk Allāh).”

    "‏ اللَّهُمَّ أَهْلِلْهُ عَلَيْنَا بِالْيُمْنِ وَالإِيمَانِ وَالسَّلاَمَةِ وَالإِسْلاَمِ رَبِّي وَرَبُّكَ اللَّهُ ‏"

    Al-Tirmidhi 3451
Classed as Sahih by Sheikh Al-Albani in Sahih Al-Tirmidhi, 2745

General Update & Public Notice Regarding Brand Integrity and Intellectual Property

As the founder of Barakah Jobs, I want to take a moment to address an important issue regarding the integrity of our brand and the protection of our work before updating you on our progress. Recent events have necessitated this public statement to inform and warn our valued user base and stakeholders of potential bad actors we've had the misfortune to encounter.

While I appreciate innovation and the shared goal of benefiting the community, I must clarify that direct imitations of our name, services, software, features, content, and concepts—especially when presented as original—are unacceptable. Such infringements may result in swift and severe legal action.

Importantly, none of the following discussion references simply pressing the share, save or download button on social media, or sharing a job post or similar content, or the use of our resources by our registered users (it's still free), all of which is exactly what we want and ask of everyone.

To ensure clarity, we would like to differentiate between three key concepts: taking inspiration, reshaping, and outright plagiarism.

    1. Taking Inspiration: This involves learning from our work and using those insights to develop new ideas or products. This practice is completely natural and encouraged, particularly when aligned with our shared mission of implementing Shari'ah in the workplace and all matters related to rizq.

    2. Reshaping: This refers to adapting certain concepts while adding originality and unique value. Businesses and institutions can reshape our ideas to create new offerings, provided they maintain transparency and do not create misleading similarities that could misrepresent our original work.

    3. Plagiarism: Outright plagiarism involves the unauthorized replication of our intellectual property, which includes our software, services, products, and professional resources, or the presentation of our innovative concepts and ideas as one’s own. This practice is unacceptable and undermines the integrity of our work.

It is also crucial to distinguish between commercial use and personal or educational use. Businesses and institutions may utilize some of our concepts for profit where reasonable, but they must do so ethically, ensuring that they provide proper attribution and do not mislead their audience. On the other hand, individuals learning from our content or benefiting from it freely in a personal context is encouraged, as this aligns with our mission to spread knowledge.

Furthermore, this distinction does not apply to widely available Islamic content, such as videos of scholars, fatwas, and general knowledge about the Deen of Allah, which we do not claim ownership of. Most of the Islamic content we produce or share from authentic sources is intended to benefit others and is meant to be redistributed freely. However, some materials—such as authored works from myself/Barakah Jobs and specialized content—may have specific guidelines, and we encourage checking for explicit permission when necessary.

Lastly, any content or products that we explicitly state can be redistributed freely are, of course, completely acceptable to share.

Instances of Blatant Plagiarism & Brand Misuse

Unfortunately, we have encountered individuals who have directly copied our concepts, verbiage, filters, and unique elements, presenting them as their own ideas.

Additionally, two separate attempts have been made to establish similar businesses using the name Barakah or Baraka, creating unnecessary confusion, or suggesting an affiliation to our brand. One of these individuals handled the situation in a highly irresponsible and inappropriate manner when confronted. Lacking honesty or adhab but Allah knows best whether these were intentional infringements or not. The individual was at least aware of our company before first contact on my side.

Even if this were not a partly for-profit venture, reputation alone is a major issue. Confusion between brands can mislead the community, damage trust, and undermine the credibility we have built over the years.

Intellectual Property & Ethical Business Practices

Intellectual property rights exist to protect the hard work, struggles, and dedication that go into building a brand. More importantly, in accordance with Islamic principles and ethical business practices, fairness, honesty, and originality should be upheld in all professional endeavors.

To be clear, this is not about competition—it is about maintaining the distinct identity of Barakah Jobs and ensuring that the community is not misled by similar initiatives using our name and work.

While I assume good intentions, I urge others to exercise due diligence and respect existing businesses when establishing their own.

Our Commitment & Investment in Barakah Jobs

We have spent years working on and struggling with this business, with Allah’s help, investing thousands of pounds and thousands of hours into this platform.

The monthly costs for maintenance and development are considerable and will only increase as we grow and traffic increases.

We trust that Allah will not allow others to unjustly take what is rightfully ours, nor do we want to discourage those who sincerely share our ambitions to benefit the Ummah.

However, direct and blatant infringement is disheartening, especially when innovative ideas are stolen and falsely presented as someone else’s original work.

Shari’ah Compliance & Ethical Business Practices

One of our biggest challenges is finding companies and job opportunities that align with Islamic values.

A significant reason behind this challenge is that we remain the only company fully committed to sourcing jobs and businesses that adhere to the Shari'ah and the Qur’an and authentic Sunnah, based on the understanding of the Salaf.

For this reason, we initially experimented with broad web-based job sourcing but discontinued it due to concerns over full Shari'ah compliance—unlike initiatives that arrived after us.

We apologize for this past approach, as we were sincerely trying to find the best possible solution to this matter.

Instead, we now solely rely on companies signing up directly and going through our strict and meticulous screening process.

    Our process includes:

    Our trusted Amanah companies ✅

Rigorous screening measures based on Amanah and definitive Shari'ah-compliant terms and conditions ✅

Occasionally conducting direct vetting and building personal relationships with our partner companies ✅

Despite knowing that our commitment to quality over convenience would further isolate and limit us from working with many potential partners, we stand by our principles because maintaining the integrity of our platform is our highest priority.

Why We Don't Use Google Ads

Similar Shari'ah concerns are also why we do not monetize our traffic using Google Ads.
This ensures our earnings will stay Halal and no Haram product, service, company or advert is promoted.

Instead, we rely on an internal advertisement system and are actively seeking compatible companies to partner with us.

    Marketing, Awareness & Growth Challenges

Despite these challenges, brand awareness and marketing remain major struggles due to a lack of funding and resources.

However, we will not give up on growing and developing this platform.

In terms of concept and implementation, we are already where we need to be—we just need help increasing visibility and connecting with businesses that truly align with Islamic principles.

We will continue this mission even if we stand alone in the journey or if we are the ones creating and encouraging Shari'ah-compliant opportunities ourselves, with the blessings of Allah.

Upcoming Initiatives & How You Can Support Us

As we continue to grow, we plan to offer:

Free courses and certifications, both professional and Islamic, as has been our plan since inception. However, due to a lack of resources and growth, we have not yet been able to implement this initiative.

To support our mission, you can:

✅ Subscribe to our YouTube channel

✅ Follow us on Instagram (and other socials in our bio)

✅ Sign up on our website for free to stay updated

✅ Visit our "Support Us" page to contribute and help us expand this initiative

✅ Keep us in your duas and spread the word about us

If you know of any companies that align with our values or can refer us to potential partners, please do not hesitate to reach out or share this message with them.

    Important Disclaimer

While we take every possible measure to ensure that companies listed on our platform align with Islamic values, we cannot and do not take full responsibility for complete vetting, as this process is primarily based on Amanah (trust).

    We rely on:

Employer disclosures during independent sign-ups via our multiple-choice screening

In rare cases, building direct relationships with an employer

Our approval of a company is based on trust and an external surface review of their practices.

Therefore, we strongly encourage all job seekers and businesses to conduct their own research, even when dealing with Amanah companies—those we believe to be the most Shari'ah-compliant based on what is apparent to us.

    Fraud & Scam Warning

We also want to warn our community about potential scams or individuals falsely claiming to represent Barakah Jobs or myself.

✅ We only communicate through our official social media pages and website.

✅ Please refer only to our verified Instagram, official social pages, and my personal official accounts for any announcements or inquiries.

❌ Be cautious of anyone claiming affiliation with us outside of these platforms.

Clarification on the Intent of This Statement

I would also like to issue a third disclaimer:

This statement is not aimed at any specific individual or entity.

We are not responsible if someone chooses to infer it as such.

This is simply a necessary public statement following multiple instances where basic ethical business practices—expected in both business and the Shari'ah, especially in ventures of Islamic influence—have been violated.

We all have sins in our personal lives, but at the very least, we should act with integrity and Taqwa in matters relating to ventures with Islamic influence.

    Upcoming Targets

In the near future, with the support of Allah first and foremost, and then our community, we aim to achieve several key conservative objectives:

5,000 Verified and Active Users on Our Website: Our goal is to grow organically and build an engaged community of verified users actively benefiting from our platform.

50,000 Monthly Active Website Visitors: Expanding our reach is essential to helping as many people as possible. We aim to grow our monthly website traffic to 50,000 active visitors, ensuring more job seekers and businesses can connect through our platform.

Sustainability and Financial Stability: We aim to break even on development and maintenance costs to ensure the long-term sustainability of this platform and continue improving our services. We also seek to reach a point where we can dedicate ourselves to this project full-time, allowing us to focus entirely on expanding and enhancing Barakah Jobs.

100 Official Shari’ah-Compliant Partner Companies: We seek to establish lasting partnerships with at least 100 companies worldwide, with a particular focus on businesses within the GCC countries and Pakistan, helping to create more ethical job opportunities for the Ummah.

Growing Our Online Presence: While views and followers are not our focus, they are necessary for reaching those who can benefit from our work. We aim to significantly grow our presence on YouTube, Instagram, and other social media platforms to expand our reach.

Regular Beneficial Content: We are committed to consistently providing valuable Islamic and professional career-related resources, uploading content to our website and social media at least biweekly to support job seekers and businesses.

    More Than Just Jobs

Barakah Jobs has always been about more than just jobs. From the very beginning, our mission has been to help Muslims navigate the professional world in a way that aligns with their Deen, providing guidance, education, and ethical opportunities to businesses, entrepreneurs, and professionals. This is why we are also working towards offering free Islamic and professional courses and certifications in addition to the already available resources and content, ensuring that our community has access to both career development and faith-based knowledge.

We ask for your duas, support, and help in spreading the word about our platform so we can achieve these goals together, insha’Allah.

    A Final Reminder

We have been working tirelessly on this business for over four years—since our inception and incorporation in 2021, and even before that. Despite significant personal and financial challenges.

This journey has been long, requiring immense effort, resources, and sacrifices.

We remain committed to upholding our values and mission. As I truly believe that this is an initiative that is needed especially when implemented with the Shari'ah in entirety without compromise. Which few businesses and institutions uphold.

I encourage others who seek to start similar initiatives to stay true to the Shari'ah—not only in their dealings but also in their mission and implementation. Do not make your venture one of countless initiatives of Islamic influence where Islam and the Shari'ah are used as nothing more than a gimmick and in vain.

Sadly, this has not been the case thus far, based on my observations.

    Jazakallahu khairan.

    Sincerely,
    Rabeeh Ameen

What the Qur'an Says About Riba (Usury): Lessons from Surah Al-Baqarah 2:275-279

    Riba is War with Allah!

Some of what the Qur'an says about Riba (Interest/Usury):

    Surah Al-Baqarah

    2:275

    Translation:
"Those who eat Ribâ (usury) will not stand (on the Day of Resurrection) except like the standing of a person beaten by Shaitân (Satan) leading him to insanity. That is because they say: 'Trading is only like Ribâ (usury)', whereas Allâh has permitted trading and forbidden Ribâ (usury). So whosoever receives an admonition from his Lord and stops eating Ribâ (usury) shall not be punished for the past; his case is for Allâh (to judge); but whoever returns [to Ribâ (usury)], such are the dwellers of the Fire - they will abide therein."

    2:276

    Translation:
"Allâh will destroy Ribâ (usury) and will give increase for Sadaqât (deeds of charity, alms, etc.) And Allâh likes not the disbelievers, sinners."

    2:278

    Translation:
"O you who believe! Be afraid of Allâh and give up what remains (due to you) from Ribâ (usury) (from now onward), if you are (really) believers."

    2:279

    Translation:
"And if you do not do it, then take a notice of war from Allâh and His Messenger, but if you repent, you shall have your capital sums. Deal not unjustly (by asking more than your capital sums), and you shall not be dealt with unjustly (by receiving less than your capital sums)."

    A Severe Warning

These verses contain a severe warning to those who consume or deal in Ribâ, or worse, try to justify it. This also applies to those who work in riba-based banks in any capacity.

Advice to Those Who Earn Haram – Sheikh Muhammad Nasir al-Din al-Albani

The following is naseeha | نصيحة from the Sheikh (May Allah have mercy on him) for those earning haram income.

Advice to Earn Ḥalāl and Leave off Ḥarām – Shaykh Al-Albānī (رحمه الله)

    Translation in English:
"I advise everyone who is afflicted with earning an income that has ḥarām in it, (especially) those who are responsible for others, to strive to free themselves from such earnings due to the saying of the Prophet ﷺ: 'Every flesh that grows out of unlawful earnings, then the Hell-Fire is more befitting for it.'"

"There is no doubt that this ḥadīth, which includes this severe ruling, like all the legislative rulings in Islām, falls under the general (meaning) in the statement of the Prophet ﷺ: 'Whatever I have commanded you to do, do as much of it as you can.'"

"Therefore, a Muslim should distance himself from a life that is built upon ḥarām earnings as much as possible. So, whoever of his children is able to earn his livelihood by the sweat of his brow (i.e., by working hard), then that is better for him and long-lasting."

Dua to Seek Refuge from Laziness, Sins, and Afflictions (Sahih Al-Bukhari 6368)

Dua to Seek Refuge from Laziness, All Kinds of Sins, and Afflictions

    Narrated `Aisha (رضي الله عنها):
The Prophet (ﷺ) used to say:

"O Allah! I seek refuge with You from laziness and geriatric old age, from all kinds of sins and from being in debt; from the trial and affliction of the grave and from the punishment in the grave; from the affliction of the Fire and from the punishment of the Fire; and from the evil of the affliction of wealth; and I seek refuge with You from the affliction of poverty, and I seek refuge with You from the affliction of Al-Mesiah Ad-Dajjal. O Allah! Wash away my sins with the water of snow and hail, and cleanse my heart from all the sins as a white garment is cleansed from the filth, and let there be a long distance between me and my sins, as You made East and West far from each other."

Sunan Ibn Majah 4164: Like the Hungry Birds

    Sunan Ibn Majah 4164

    ‘Umar ؓ said :
“I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: ‘If you were to rely upon Allah with the reliance He is due, you would be given provision like the birds: They go out hungry in the morning and come back with full bellies in the evening.”

    "‏ لَوْ أَنَّكُمْ تَوَكَّلْتُمْ عَلَى اللَّهِ حَقَّ تَوَكُّلِهِ لَرَزَقَكُمْ كَمَا يَرْزُقُ الطَّيْرَ تَغْدُو خِمَاصًا وَتَرُوحُ بِطَانًا ‏"‏ ‏.‏
