Senior Structural Designer - This person will work with other members of the engineering team to deliver projects of varying complexity and size for our fossil and hydro power generation clients. Daily tasks will include design support for additions and modifications to power generation related structures including:
  • Mechanical and electrical equipment supports, racks, foundations, and anchorages
  • Pre-engineered metal building foundations
  • Steel-framed, concrete, or masonry buildings
  • Personnel access platforms, walkways, stairways, etc.
  • Retaining walls Lifting and rigging component design


  • Minimum of an AS in Engineering Technology, or a related course of study
  • Minimum of 8 years of design experiences


Works under direction of Senior Designers/Engineers, and Design Specialists.

  • Assists other designers in the preparation of engineering and construction drawings (layouts, assemblies, schematics, and details) from rough sketches, verbal instructions, or from general engineering and design information utilizing computer aided design technology.
  • Accountable for the quality of design documents they prepare, and that the documents have been prepared in accordance with applicable Mesa or client procedures which define the requirements for document/deliverable generation.
    Developing an understanding of drawing types required for a project, their purpose, and inter-relationship with other sets of deliverables.
  • Communicate with other designers and engineers about concepts, data, and specific needs associated with the completion of design deliverables.
  • Manages personal task assignments and adheres to project scope of work, schedule and budget on all assigned tasks.
    Understand the basic design requirements, and technical/commercial constraints on projects. Works with Senior
Designer/Design Specialists to evaluate, select, and apply design techniques, procedures, and criteria to assigned engineering/technical tasks.
  • Assists in equipment or material selection or specification based on environmental or performance requirements.
  • Performs material takeoffs from completed drawings and schedules to determine quantities and equipment specifications.
  • Reference information from vendor prints, catalogs, technical manuals, and client standards and interface with engineering as required.
  • Technical adequacy of all work is reviewed during progress and on completion.

Associates or better in Engineering Technology or related field.



8 years: Minimum of 8 years of design experience
