Role Purpose:
Is to establish guidelines, and lead the implementation of the functions of Financial control, General Ledger control and review and Implement Accounting Cycles for all new products and services by liaising with respective product / services owners. To own ‘chart of accounts’ and manage new account opening procedure and ensure to assign ownership for all ledger accounts. To own and maintain Finance related policies & procedures, Operational risk & BC procedures. Support automation initiatives for Finance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contributes to the formulation and implementation of the department’s strategy.
- Monitoring the working of the financial control function across the bank to ensure financial policies and procedures are adhered.
- Reporting to management and recommending control improvements.
- Assist in collecting and organizing information required for presentation of user’s manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals and reports.
- Review, edit, schedule functional descriptions, system specifications, user’s manuals, special reports, or any other deliverables and documents.
- Analyze information gathered from multiple sources, select the specification format best suited for the target audience of the publication, and coordinates among, related functional areas to insure utmost quality and clarity.
- Conduct research and ensure the use of proper technical terminology.
- Translate technical information into clear, readable documents to be used.
- Provide advice and guidance to resolve complicated discrepancies and\or with regard to the preparation of technical manuals, throughout the course of the publication preparation.
- Restructures and re-engineers the GL Control, control accounting entries.
- Develops accounting programs for new and existing products and services and maintain accounting cycle of core banking systems.
- Ensures the maintenance of control process of products balances.
- Manage and directly supervise the Monthly Closing of ARB TB and the Maintenance of ARB Chart of Account
- Ensure the effectiveness and accuracy of GL and Product control and Oracle FAH deliverables meeting reporting deadlines (TB, Product reconciliations, etc.)
- Manage and Monitor the daily / monthly Source system Vs. GL Reconciliation report and follow up with stakeholders for differences till they are all reconciled.
- Adherence to all regulations and control functions within the bank in order to ensure that governance, Audit, risk and compliance, fraud detecting and combating matters are carried out.
- Directs and ensures the effective achievement of functional objectives through leadership of the Financial Control department
Requirements:
- University degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics or related discipline.
- 10+ years progressive professional experience, in Banking, or a Financial/Investment institution, from which at least 5 years’ experience in Financial Control at a supervisory level.
- Possession of an ACCA, CPA, SOCPA designation is strongly desired.
